About Buon Appetito Italian Cuisine

Chef Vito’s love for cooking started early—right at his mama’s feet in the family kitchen. As a young boy, he was always eager to stir Mama Cangemi’s legendary sauce with her oversized wooden spoon (though we suspect he just wanted to avoid getting tapped by it!). It was in that kitchen where the heart of Sicilian cooking came alive for him—simple ingredients, bold flavors, and food made with love.

Fast forward twenty-five years, and Vito, alongside his wife Jeanette, opened their first pizzeria. While it saw modest success, something was missing: the soul of Mama’s recipes. That realization sparked a shift. They embraced their roots and brought authentic Sicilian cuisine to the heart of Romeo, Michigan—and just like that, Buon Appetito was born.

The warm, welcoming atmosphere and rich, traditional flavors quickly made Buon Appetito a local favorite. As the love from their guests continued to grow, so did the restaurant. In 2021, they expanded into a larger space to better serve their ever-growing extended family of diners.

Today, Vito and Jeanette are deeply grateful for the incredible support of their community. Graci to all who have shared a table, a meal, and a memory with us.
