About Jake's Stadium Pizza

The story of Jake’s Pizza begins in 1964, when Rose and Ernie Jacobson opened the very first location in Albert Lea, Minnesota. With a passion for quality and a love of good food, they created recipes that would stand the test of time—made from scratch, prepared with fresh ingredients, and crafted with care. Those very same recipes are still at the heart of every pizza we serve today.

In April 1972, Rose’s brother Vern “Sarge” Carstensen carried the tradition forward by opening Jake’s Stadium Pizza in Mankato. His vision was simple: combine great food with a welcoming atmosphere where friends, families, and the community could gather together over pizza.

The next chapter began in 1997, when Sarge’s daughter, Brenda Boyer, and her husband, Wally, became the proud owners of Jake’s Stadium Pizza. Staying true to the family’s legacy, they continued using the same beloved recipes and time-honored techniques that made Jake’s a hometown favorite. Their passion for sharing quality food and warm hospitality inspired them to expand, and in 2012, they opened a second location—Jake’s Pizza of Saint Peter.

Today, the tradition lives on through a third generation. Andrew Boyer manages Jake’s Stadium Pizza, while his brother Jonathan oversees Jake’s Pizza of Saint Peter. Together, they uphold the family’s commitment to excellence while continuing to grow the Jake’s legacy for future generations.
