Yankee BBQ Smokehouse & Tavern isn’t just about barbecue—it’s about passion, perseverance, and a second shot at a lifelong dream.

Owner and pitmaster Brian Nagy didn’t begin behind a smoker. He started out as a pile driver, building with steel instead of smoke. But after a knee injury changed his course, Brian traded in hard hats for hardwoods, bringing with him the same grit, precision, and patience that defined his construction days.

In 2019, he lit his first fire in a small shack on Lake Shore Road. Then came the pandemic. While many doors closed, Brian refused to give up. With the support of his wife Karen, loyal friends, and a growing team of barbecue believers, he kept the smoke rolling and the dream alive.

Today, Yankee BBQ Smokehouse & Tavern has found its new home at 4572 Clark Street in the Village of Hamburg—bigger, bolder, and smokier than ever. The new space brings more seating, a full bar, and a menu that’s as ambitious as it is flavorful.
