The Red Lion Café has been a cherished part of the community since it first opened its doors in the 1930s. Originally a modest three-story building, it began as a one-room country store run by Ray Morgan Sr. and his wife Minnie, offering groceries, gasoline, and kerosene.

After the Great Depression, the couple secured a restaurant liquor license and transformed the space into a small bar and eatery known officially as the Red Lion Café—though many locals simply called it “Morgan’s Hotel.” Ray and Minnie operated the business for two decades before passing it on to their son Raymond Jr. (“Rammie”) and his wife Lorraine in 1959. Just 24 years old at the time, the young couple took the reins while raising their growing family. Over the years, their four children all worked in the restaurant, with twin daughters Cheryl and Sharon eventually stepping into leadership roles.

Throughout the decades, the Red Lion Café has seen several major expansions: a larger dining area in 1970, a new kitchen and banquet room in 1980, a dedicated take-out space in 2012, and a full bar renovation in 2014. Today, the café continues to evolve, offering trivia nights, live music, karaoke, and a newly converted game room in the former banquet area—perfect for family fun.

Following Ray and Lorraine’s retirement in 2008, Cheryl, along with her late husband Terry and their sons Zachary and Andrew, assumed ownership. Together, they carry on the family’s tradition of hospitality, honoring Terry’s passion for continuous improvement while keeping the spirit of the Red Lion Café alive.
